Written Here combined print, performance and poetry to explore the process of self-alienation which can occur between the Self and the physical body when influenced by fixed gender identities. The artist placed intimate objects within the gallery space to humanize a performative physical imprint placed upon the floor. The imprint serves as an autonomous visceral representation of the female’s active body - its non-representational nature is free from the tethers of objectified viewing in a gallery setting to which the traditionally rendered female form is often subjected.
